If your Outlook XP is very slow, try these !
1) Disable instant messenger integration (see tools | options | other)
2) Disable the removal of extra carriage returns from plain text messages (see tools | options | prefs. tab | email options)

Enable Outlook XP to minimize to the System tray as older versions did.
Navigate the the location below in your registry.
Create a new REG_DWORD value named MinToTray and set the value to 1. Next time you restart Outlook XP it will minimize to the system tray instead of the Taskbar.
Key:[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\10.0\Outlook\Preferences]
Value Name: MinToTray
Data Type: REG_DWORD
Data: (0 = Taskbar, 1 = Systray)
